Luxe Royal Glenora Club Wedding with Citadel Theatre Portraits | Ashley & Sam
We always love photographing weddings at the Royal Glenora Club in Edmonton. For Ashley and Sam’s big day, the weather was a bit less than perfect, but a little rain couldn't stop the celebration. To keep everyone dry and comfortable, we spent the majority of our portrait time indoors, exploring the stunning architecture at the Citadel Theatre.
From the quiet moments of getting ready to their high-energy reception, here is a look at Ashley and Sam’s beautiful day.
Morning Preparations & A Royal Glenora Club Ceremony
Ashley spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids at their home in Edmonton, while Sam and his groomsmen dressed at his grandparents' house across town.
When it came time for the ceremony, everyone tucked under umbrellas for the short walk to the cars. Those clear umbrellas you see in the photos are a staple in our kit; we always keep a full set in the back of our vehicle so you and your wedding party stay dry. We prefer the clear style because they allow beautiful, soft light to hit your face—which looks spectacular under cloudy, overcast skies.
Rainy Day Wedding Portraits at the Citadel Theatre
The Citadel Theatre in Edmonton is a spectacular location for wedding portraits when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. While it’s a space that typically requires booking in advance, it makes all the difference for you and your wedding party; you can truly enjoy the session without worrying about the rain affecting your hair or attire.
The mixture of floor-to-ceiling windows, dramatic architecture, and warm ambient light of the Lee Pavilion offers so much variety that it truly is a photographer’s dream!
Celebrating at the Royal Glenora Club | Reception
One of our favorite things about shooting at the Royal Glenora Club is the sheer sophistication of the entire facility. The formal ballroom is charming and elegant, but when the party starts, there is more than enough room for everyone to fill the dance floor.
The club offers so many hidden gems for portraits. Following our usual tradition, we snuck Ashley and Sam out for a few sunset images in the nearby river valley woods before heading to the balcony for some editorial, direct flash portraits. Everything about this day was spectacular, and we were truly honoured to be trusted with documenting these memories for Ashley and Sam.

Edmonton Legislature Grounds Engagement Session
The summer before their wedding, we had the chance to work with Ashley and Sam for an engagement session at the Edmonton Legislature Grounds. This is a premier location for portraits because it offers so much variety—from the classic stone columns and grand doors to the perfectly manicured grounds.
One of our favorite spots is the wading pool and fountain in front of the building. If the weather is warm, it’s a lot of fun to kick off your shoes and wade into the water for some light-hearted, romantic images in front of the main stairs.
We love working with couples before the wedding day; it’s the perfect time to get comfortable with our process. We provide plenty of direction so you never have to worry about 'what to do with your hands' or how to pose. If you’re on the fence about booking an engagement session, we highly recommend it!
