Jayden & Alyse’s Outdoor Wedding at Obsidian Ridge
Capturing a wedding at Obsidian Ridge is always a highlight for us. Located just outside of Edmonton near Tofield, it’s a venue that truly understands the needs of a wedding day from start to finish. We recently spent a beautiful fall day there with Alyse and Jayden, documenting their celebration across the many unique spaces this property has to offer.
One of the best things about Obsidian Ridge is how well-thought-out the amenities are for the couple before the ceremony even begins. The Bridal Suite provided a bright, relaxed environment for Alyse and her bridesmaids to prepare, while the Groom's Den gave Jayden and his groomsmen a dedicated spot to hang out. Having these distinct, high-quality spaces on-site makes the morning much more seamless and keeps the energy grounded.
The ceremony took place in the iconic stone amphitheatre. The feature tunnel entrance creates a genuine sense of anticipation for the processional, and the stone tiers provide a natural, elegant backdrop that requires very little extra decor. In the fall, with the surrounding foliage changing colour, the contrast against the stone is particularly striking.
As the evening began, the celebration moved to the clear reception tent. This is a massive win for couples who want that outdoor feeling while staying protected from the elements. The transparency of the canopy allowed the autumn light to pour in, making for some great natural shots during the dinner and toasts.
We really enjoyed the opportunity to explore the grounds with Alyse and Jayden. Between the modern features and the natural beauty of the ridge, there was no shortage of options for their portraits. It was a pleasure to document this chapter of their story.
