Elopements at Emerald Lake

You Bring the Love, We’ll Bring the Cameras

Emerald Lake is one of our favourite places to capture weddings and elopements. If it’s just the two of you, or your bringing all your friends and family - we want to be the ones to capture your day for you!

Check out this intimate and romantic elopement! Colby & Nicole snuck away together and shared their vows privately before we spent time capturing portraits on the lake and at the natural bridge.

Where should you go for your portraits?

  • A bride and groom walk across a natural bridge near a river canyon with turquoise water below.

    The Natural Bridge

We absolutely love taking couples to the natural bridge for portraits! The rushing water is just as beautiful as the lake itself and the cliffs and rock lines make the scenery unbeatable. This location is just a few minutes drive from the main lodge where most couples stay, so it’s a great place to finish your session after the ceremony up at the lake.

  • A bride and groom share their vows in yoho national park with the frozen lake and snowy mountains in the background.

    The landing

For couples who choose to stay at Emerald lake Lodge, this is the most popular ceremony location. It overlooks the lake, with the mountains of Yoho National Park in the background. In the winter you get snow covered peaks, in the summer you get emerald coloured water. Both are amazing.

  • A bride and groom share a kiss in front of a raging waterfall.

    Takakkaw Falls

Takakkaw falls is not open all season, but if you’re at Emerald Lake in the summer it is well worth the extra 15 minute drive! This falls is an easy hike (clear path all the way an not too much elevation) and you will be treated to multiple locations that will make your friends wonder how you managed to find the perfect location!

  • A husband and wife gaze at each other with an emerald lake and snowy mountain in the background.

    Emerald Lake

Of course you want to spend time getting portraits on the lake itself! It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and that emerald colour is just amazing. There are a lot of different options around the lake itself (with easy footpaths everywhere) so you can get lots of variety in your portraits here! We have been lucky enough to photograph couples who rent canoes as well, but please keep in mind this is a very busy service and it is an additional fee from the venue even if you’re staying at the lodge.

Matt and Caroline had their elopement ceremony at Emerald Lake Lodge before we went to Takakkaw falls to capture some stunning footage for their portraits.
