Stephanie and Garrett’s Winter Wedding at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, AB

The beauty of the Rocky Mountains was on full display for Stephanie and Garrett’s wedding day! After getting ready on separate floors of the luxurious Mercer Clubhouse the couple shared a first look together and headed off for portraits in the mountains.
We wanted to make sure that they got all of the mountain views they deserved, so on our pre-scout the day before we planned multiple locations in Canmore that we could potentially use depending on how much of the forecasted snow/cloud cover showed up (fun tip, if there is a lot of snow, you have to get closer to the mountains to be able to see them in your photos). In the end we settled on a beautiful river location as well as a grassy hill that showed the three sisters on one side and Mount Rundle on the other! I mean, you couldn’t get a more perfect backdrop for photos! Here are a few of our favourites from the wedding day.

A snow-covered ceremony

After portraits we made our way to Silvertip Resort where the couple shared their vows in private upstairs, enjoyed a snack and re-touched up makeup and hair. Then it was off to the outdoor ceremony and, oh my were we in for a surprise!
The amount of snow that fell during the ceremony was truly magical. In fact it snowed so much, that I had to go back and re-film some of the detail shots for the video after the ceremony was over because when I’d filmed them earlier there was no snow on the ground.

If you watch the ceremony portion of their video above you will get an idea of why we love filming winter weddings so much! The snow just looks so dreamy in slow motion and, honestly; just look at the smiles on everyone’s faces!

After a wonderful meal, we snuck the couple back outside to capture a few portraits at blue hour. The snow-covered mountains behind where they’d said “I do” just hours before was a perfect setting to finish the day and we’re so excited with how the images turned out!
