The Best Portrait Locations at Emerald Lake

The Natural Bridge

We absolutely love taking couples to the natural bridge for portraits! The rushing water of the kicking horse river is just as beautiful as the lake itself and the cliffs and rock lines make the scenery unbeatable. This location is just a few minutes drive from the main lodge where most couples stay, so it’s a great place to finish your session after the ceremony up at the lake.

Takakkaw Falls

Takakkaw falls is not open all season, but if you’re at Emerald Lake in the summer it is well worth the extra 15 minute drive! This falls is an easy hike (clear path all the way an not too much elevation) and you will be treated to multiple locations that will make your friends wonder how you managed to find the perfect location!

Emerald Lake

Of course you want to spend time getting portraits on Emerald lake itself! It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and that emerald colour is just amazing. There are a lot of different options around the lake itself (with easy footpaths everywhere) so you can get lots of variety in your portraits here! We often try to walk around the bottom of the lake and shoot back towards the lodge as these are some of the most majestic views.

The Landing

For couples who choose to stay at Emerald lake Lodge, this is the most popular ceremony location. It overlooks the lake, with the mountains of Yoho National Park in the background. In the winter you get snow covered peaks, in the summer you get emerald coloured water. Both are amazing.
